The player takes the role of Claude Speed's living in Liberty City. Throughout the game you do not know his name the main character. Only the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas that the name is Claude.

The player begins to operate as a local bandit, slowly consolidating his position, working for rival gangs. Each car is characterized by its parameters such as the Mafia Sentinel (modeled on the BMW M5) is much faster than a minivan, but an attempt to steal usually end up chasing the player by an armed member of the mafia.
